MedienHafen - Media Harbour Dusseldorf
From the old trade harbour to the modern MedienHafen (Media Harbour)
The former Rhine harbour has undergone a drastic transformation in the last two decades: where silos and warehouses used to form the skyline of the harbour district, today, there are building complexes designed by nationally and internationally renowned architects. The MedienHafen is home to about 800 companies, especially from the media and communications segments, fashion and architecture as well as art and culture.
Multifaceted cuisine in the MedienHafen
The area around the Kaistraße is also popular among Düsseldorfers and visitors because of the richly varied cuisine offered. In the lunch hours, people crowd the bars, bistros and restaurants offering fast food. After office hours, dinner is at one of the numerous restaurants.
Architectural masterpieces
If you're interested in the "Who's who" of the architectural scene, or simply in modern buildings, or in experiencing building trends at close quarters, the harbour is just the place for you. Internationally reputed masters from the world of architecture like Steven Holl, David Chipperfield or Frank O. Gehry have as much of a presence here as leading regional architects. To get an overview of the individual buildings and their special features, it is best to refer to the map.
