Christmas Market at Marktplatz/Marktstraße in Dusseldorf
Düsseldorf‘s landmark, the equestrian statue of Jan Wellem, towers over an enchanting Christmas market with huts following the colour and style of the historic Renaissance town hall, the red brick building in the heart of Düsseldorf‘s old town. Mulled red wine and hot chocolate are an enticement to linger on. The adjoining Marktstraße is turned into a quarter of the arts and crafts: glassblowers, candle makers, art metal workers and carvers of nativity sets offer their ware. A special attraction is the hand-carved life-size crib from the district of Bethlehem.

Flingerstraße links the Christmas markets on Marktplatz and on Heinrich-Heine-Platz. For the first time, the fronts of the market booths have been modelled on the style of the street‘s ancient town houses, forming a unique, harmonious ensemble. by the ‚Pyromaniacs‘ cheerleaders give an extra tang to the Christmas mood.
A Christmas market that could not be more atmospheric. The enchanting market, bustling with activity in the glow of a thousand lights, stretches over four squares and along two streets. Every street, every square tells a small winter tale of its own, with specially created nostalgic market huts. Ornate Christmas arts and crafts, from glittering Christmas tree decorations to filigree creations made of glass and wood carvings from the Erzgebirge, are offered in the lovingly arranged displays.
About 270 festively decorated huts carry visitors away to a romantic fairyland right in the centre of the city. The fragrance of cinnamon cakes and gingerbread, of hot chocolate and mulled red wine, of crispy waffles and charcoal grilled regional specialities entices to feast under the clear sky. A merry entertainment programme underlines the mood of this most magic season of the year.
